Nellie's Retreat is a fully restored home, thoughtfully designed to offer comfort, style, and a true home-from-home experience.
Set in the charming market town of Guisborough, on the edge of the North Yorkshire Moors, this boutique retreat is perfectly positioned for both peaceful countryside escapes and nearby coastal adventures.
This is more than just a place to stay - it's a home with heart.
The property underwent a full back-to-brick renovation, carefully brought back to life with attention to every detail. What was once tired and forgotten has been transformed into a warm, stylish space designed to be enjoyed.
The retreat is named in honour of my Grandmother, Nellie - a strong, loving, family oriented woman who believed deeply in the importance of home, comfort and bringing people together.

🦊 The Mr Fox Suite
Step into the Mr. Fox Suite, a cosy boutique bedroom full of character. The room is centred around a striking fox mural, creating a warm and memorable focal point. Thoughtfully designed with soft textures, stylish furnishings, and calming tones, this room offers a restful retreat after exploring the North Yorkshire Moors or the nearby coast.
🛏 Loft Room
A spacious king-size bedroom in the loft, featuring original floorboards and a luxurious Harrison Spinks five-star mattress. Enjoy peaceful mornings in the quiet reading armchair, with stunning Velux rooftop views across the town and towards the edge of the North York Moors. A serene, tucked-away retreat for rest and relaxation.
🛁 Roll-Top Bath
Relax in style with a classic roll-top bath and a walk-in shower, set against the charm of the original fireplace. Soft candlelight adds a cosy, boutique touch for the perfect unwind.
🛋 Lounge
A bright, inviting living area with comfortable seating and boutique-style touches. The perfect place to relax, read, or enjoy time together with friends and family.
🍽 Dining Room
A charming space with a large pine farmhouse table seating six, original brick fireplace, and pantry cupboards. Boutique lighting and elegant wallpaper add warmth and character for memorable meals and gatherings.
🍳 Kitchen & Utility
A fully equipped kitchen with induction hob, built-in microwave, slide-and-hide oven, and integrated fridge and freezer. The separate utility room includes a dishwasher and washing machine, making this space as practical as it is stylish.
🛏 Small Double Bedroom
A cosy bedroom with a large sun-filled window, original fireplace, and charming chandelier. Perfectly bright and inviting, this room offers a restful retreat with plenty of natural light.

We had a fantastic stay at Nellie's Retreat. The house was beautifully decorated and comfortable and felt very spacious for our group of 3 adults and a toddler. It was a perfect base for us to visit family in Guisborough. I'm sure we will be back again.

This is a return visit to Nellie's Retreat and it confirms my initial review in 2025. The host has everything right in providing a high standard of accomodation.
The location is a short distancce to restaurants, yet peaceful and quiet. The layout of the house allows comfort and privacy for multiple guests and wouuld fit well for families and larger parties. The kitchen has all appliances required with a lovely dining area if you wish to dine indoors and enjoy the property.
